"I grew up in the times of pager partylines, abc 123 click, grimm productions, sinister productions and undergrounds when u had to go to an albertos or an arcade to get directions and where chicks would enter booty contests and take their pants off for free pagers! dang!"
BIO:
Jay Avery’s real footprint in the nightlife industry began over 14 years ago in San Diego. In 1993 there was a growing population of party lines on stolen voicemail systems. It was literally the analog version of MySpace in the early 90’s. He decided to purchase his own voicemail for the public and inherit the growing culture of late night marauders and mutual friends. He started with the nickname ‘gonzo’, formed a crew called abc and generated an incredible social network by simply opening up a legal voice networking system. It wasn’t very long until the Hosting Company (pagenet) shut him down due to the bandwidth load his account was putting on the system. The traffic literally shut the entire company down for a couple of days…
Jump to 1994 and Jay Avery joined an events company called Grimm Productions. Although he got along with the team just fine, his thirst was to become a leader. He parted ways with Grimm to spread his wings and formed his own company with a group of close friends that they labeled Sinister Productions.
Sinister Productions had an extremely fruitful run that lasted through the late 1990’s. It consisted of undergrounds, hall parties, hotel parties, college campus parties etc. Eventually the group and its members went on to explore other creative opportunities and until this day, most are still very well connected to the entertainment industry.
Jay Avery went on to college and ultimately pursued a career in Information Technology at a large computer conglomerate in Rancho Bernardo. He climbed his way up the corporate ladder but after a few years, quickly realized that he no longer wanted to be part of the rat race.
In 2001 he stepped foot in a brand new mega club owned by Viscosity Inc and became astonishingly re-inspired to get back into the club industry. After emailing Dylan, the General Manager about becoming a promoter, he trekked downtown one day on his lunch break to introduce himself. Upon his arrival, the GM had already decided that he did not want to meet with Jay Avery and sent someone out to the lobby to ask him to kindly leave. The messenger was Tim Ortiz. And although he told Jay, tactfully; that the GM was too busy to see him… Tim saw a fire in Jay that he couldn’t ignore. He pitched Jay on this idea of a media website called eventvibe.com that he’d just built. They set a goal to make it the ultimate media portal for clubbers, promoters and venue owners. They exchanged contact information and have been in business together ever since. Today eventvibe.com is one of the top 10k websites in the world.
Jay Avery is a full time entrepreneur and currently owns a Charter Transportation company called In Motion Limo Bus. He also owns a marketing firm, Infinite Media. Infinite Media is the parent company to his Event Planning businesses, Infinite Entertainment and Jay Avery Presents.
