TWO WAYS TO UPGRADE YOUR FASHION TODAY: THE SNEAK
PUA fashion lessons revolve around "peacocking" (the act of wearing an outlandish item, like a pink feather boa or LED shirt). This is a great conversation starter (women WILL open you) but it isn't an answer to transforming your sense of style into your best self.
So, how does the man who wants to achieve his best self style proceed?
Enter my fashion guru Jeffrey Sebelia - winner of Project Runway, fashion consultant to celebrities, and one of the Total Life Makeover expert presenters.
There's no way I can tell you everything he taught me, you'd need to see him in action for that. But let me give you a taste...

1. POP!
This idea is sort of like peacocking, but I feel that sometimes peacocking can seem a little cartoony. Sebelia taught me that the fashion term "pop" means a touch of color that stands out in your outfit. It's the piece that draws the viewer's eye immediately.
"I saw a guy the other day wearing yellow socks with bright blue stars on them." exclaimed Sebelia.
"Everything else he was wearing was khaki and wasn't amazing but there was something about those socks. And I was looking at them thinking that's amazing! That's a conversation piece...and that shows character."
We see in Sebelia's story the "pop" was a colorful pair of socks. Try creating your own "pop" in this manner. Experiment by putting together an outfit that for the most part is normal, perhaps a black suit. Then add a touch of pop, socks as mentioned earlier, a bright pocket square, or perhaps a colorful patterned vest beneath your coat.
2. Build a Fashion Character
When attempting a fashion make-over I hear a lot of guys express that they don't feel comfortable dressing differently. They have trouble stepping outside of the fashion comfort zone they've built over the years.
First, let me say that becoming a PUA is all about stepping out of your comfort zone. And, yes, this can be difficult to do. But Sebelia offers a solution in regards to fashion.
"Fashion is about building character. You are the character that you've built, and you can't disassemble it. But you can build a new character." says Sebelia.
As you purchase new clothes or as you get dressed Sebelia suggests that you refer to this new character mindset. "As you get dressed look in the mirror and ask yourself what would the new character do? Would the new character button this shirt all the way up or would he leave one undone? Would the new character add a touch of pop?"
Sebelia's suggestion of approaching fashion as the building of a new character allows you to ease into the idea of your fashion make-over as you build your best self. Try it.
Pretend you are not yourself but rather the ultra- fashionable version of you; the best-stylish you. Imagine what this stylish you wears and how he wears it. Allow this character to guide you in your new apparel choices. Quickly you'll find that this method pushes you to explore new realms of fashion.
This is just a start - follow the sneak's tutorial as a baseline and become your own fashion guru,
