CONFESSIONS OF SOCIALITE CITY GIRLS Get to know me, Isabelle, Chloe and Kayla as I divulge in my , and their personal conquests for love, sex, parties and of course the perfect pair of Christian Louboutin's on the San Diego social scene!
Happy, rich, sad and broke - A Priveleged girl's financial downward spiral: PART 2 POSTED ON: SEPTEMBER 24, 2008
Quick re cap: Last time you tuned in, I met up with my friend Kayla at a “Woman in the Galleries” benefit that was being held and the SDMA.. She was spoiled, rich, way over privileged, sick of the Hamptons, (which I like to believe when that statement was made she was on some sort of drugs!!) turned 25, wanted a change, moved to Cali. Let’s continue shall we?
Since Kayla was moving to a new city where public transport for her was just not an option, she was gifted a new car upon arrival, to get her from A-Z. A BMW 335xi coupe to be specific! (Thanks mom)
Searching around for a place to call her own, she finally planted her Christian Louboutin La Donna Mary Jane Pumps on to a cute little place in downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp to be exact!
She moved into the Mezzanine floor plan at The Lofts at 677. The deal was that her father would pay for her apartment and utilities, but nothing else. She was to support her self in every other way!
Once settled into her new place, it was time to explore all of the beautiful things San Diego had to offer. The La Jolla shore, the cute boutiques all along Prospect Street, The shops at Del Mar, the Gaslamp with all of it’s old culture charm, historic buildings, adorable eateries and shops. Her favorite place to be though became Fashion Valley Mall, which she immediately dubbed “her second home” upon arrival!
She soon developed a few secret indulgences that are listed as follows, in no particular order: In and out burger, which she went to twice a month, Chi Chocolat in Little Italy, this amazing chocolatier that serves a very decadent Chi Chai latte, which unlike regular chai, came with scoop of rich melted chocolate poured into the center of the mug and then was drizzled on top of the chai. She would always get that along with a slice of their tiramisu, which she once described to me as “light and heavenly, practically melting in my mouth”. That was 3 times a month. There was Zia’s bistro, also in Little Italy; The Tiki Lounge known to have the best mai tai’s, the list goes on and on.
If I didn’t mention before, Kayla is very passionate about her food, especially her sweets, but still somehow manages to fit into her size eight jeans!
Let me not forget that she managed to get club connections in the short time that she was here. Realivzetribe.com and forplayent.net has her on their permanent promoter guest list, which allows her to skip right to the front of the line at club hot spots such as On Broadway, Belo, Aubergine, to name a few . It also help’s that she became friends with one of their promoters. Needless to say, shortly after getting together that night at the SDMA I was her + one!
When it came to getting away for the weekend, L.A was her spot. She made sure her lifestyle here, was no different to the life style she was accustomed to in New York. She only stayed at the Beverly Hilton and dined at the finest restaurants. Sushi Dokoro Ki Ra La, Geisha House and of course I can’t forget her “regular” hang out spot, Spago. On the way home, it was a priority to stop at Sweet Lady Jane for one of there famous croissants! (Ok maybe 2 of there famous croissants!)
One of her everyday activities: Shopping with a capital S. Not one day would go by, or at least it felt like it, that she wasn’t buying cloths that’s were fresh off the magazine pages.
“Shopping for me is, well, it’s like a hobby of mine. There’s always something new just waiting to be bought and it would be a crime for that item to never be taken off the rack” She once said to me.
The first few months were wonderful for her. Kayla told me she was “Living the lifestyle that all of her friends back home envied’. As if they weren’t envious before!
Her parents set her up with a starter bank account to help get her on her feet the first 3 months she was here. To her dismay, she blew through that faster then Thakoon’s spring line debuted!
Queue the charge cards.
Remember the lifestyle I mentioned early on, the one which she was so accustomed to, well in order to maintain this “glamorous California way of life”, when her funds ran out, she used her American Express blue, American Express Premier, her MasterCard Platinum, her Visa Gold, and any other card she could pull out of her Luella bag.
Next.. ...Part the -the conclusion- It all comes crashing down
Love Peace and Purity,
xoxo Shayna
